ABOUT

Book and Lyrics by Tom Eyen • Music by Henry Krieger
Directed by Joel Ferrell • Choreographed by Rickey Tripp
Music Direction, Music Supervision and Conducting by Michael O. Mitchell

Tony®s, Oscars, Grammys … this modern-day classic sparkles with almost as many awards and accolades as its costumes have sequins. Take a trip back to the seminal music scene of the 1960s, when young women sang their way to musical prominence in a man’s world. Set in the Motown era that brought us powerhouse voices like Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross—and ultimately Destiny’s Child and Beyoncé—Dreamgirls explodes from the stage with legendary songs and timeless appeal.

My husband and I attended the production we enjoyed the presentation. The show is very well put together. The actors and actresses were extremely talented. I think that the show provides a wonderful forum to share the message of the power of working as a united front. Dreams Girls addresses the issue of racial injustice and equality for females in the music industry and the country. What a wonderful way of presenting information on these sensitive issues.

Emotional. Moving. Powerful. Thought-provoking. These are just a few of the words to describe DTC's production of DREAMGIRLS. This is truly the best musical theatre experience for me of the last five years. Kudos to all involved.

A beautifully well put together composition of dream girls. The characters were absolutely phenomenal, voices that delivered every note. The setting transported you to the era and gave chilling sensation of being in a personal front view concert. Sound and lighting was exquisite, space of the stage was greatly used to the maximum capacity. Every voice was unique, Marisha Wallace featuring Effie, surpassed every possible expectation. Her voice not only filled the stage but also hearts as I heard everyone near me gasp in tears. Eric LaJuan Summers not only gave his character the talent it deserved but the personality as well. Dream girls is highly recommendable, Bravo!!

I am so lucky to have seen the brilliant original production and the deservedly Oscar winning film, but this stunning production was so fresh and intimate, I felt I was seeing the magic for the first time. The only place you will ever see this cast, this set, and this Dreamgirls is at the Dallas Theater Center. Don't miss it!

My first time at the Wyly and my son's first time EVER at a professional show. He has a sibling in visual arts and is interested in theater himself. We are SO blessed that he saw this as his first - it was a phenomenal performance- and should set a high standard for him what professional productions with deeply talented performers should be. It was just life changing and Wallace's voice is transcendent.

Just Wow! I have seen many plays but this one was SPECTACULAR! I took my wife for our anniversary and we both loved it! It was worth EVERY PENNY!..
