Play Submissions

If you are an artist currently living in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, please email a one page synopsis of your play and a current resume to our Literary Department.

Due to the volume of material we consider each year and limited staff size, we are unable to accept any unsolicited scripts from writers out side of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex.

Please note that DTC does not provide comments or suggestions about work that we do not intend to develop or produce. If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact us via e-mail.

The Dallas Theater Center Playwrights Workshop was founded by Will Power in 2013 to support DFW area emerging playwrights. The playwrights workshop aligns with DTC’s mission is to engage, entertain and inspire our diverse community by creating experiences that stimulate new ways of thinking and living. DTC will do this by consistently producing plays, educational programs, and other initiatives that are of the highest quality and reach the broadest possible constituency. Please note that this workshop is free of charge and is meant to serve as an educational experience.

Over the course of the workshop, participants will write the first draft of a new play – between 70 to 90 minutes in length. Additionally, playwrights will develop strategies to strengthen their voice and build their knowledge about the business of playwriting. The workshop will be led by Dallas Theater Center’s Playwright in Residence and DTC Playwrights Workshop alum, Jonathan Norton.

Playwrights Welcome is a new program developed for Dramatists Guild of America Members by Samuel French along with Dramatists Play Service, Dramatic Publishing, Music Theatre International, Playscripts and Rodgers and Hammerstein. The goal is simple: to provide free access to theater for playwrights, composers and lyricists. We are invested in the success and artistic health of our industry’s writers, and by extension the vibrancy of the American theater. We’re also aware that attending theater is an integral part to how writers learn their craft and grow as artists.

Dallas Theater Center is proud to take part in Playwrights Welcome, which offers available tickets to professional playwrights on the day of a performance, free of charge. To receive a ticket through Playwrights Welcome at DTC, please contact the box office in person or by phone @ (214) 880-0202 on the day of the performance you’d like to attend. Please note that a Dramatists Guild membership card is required to pick up tickets, and there is a limit of two free tickets per member. Available while supplies last.
Other restrictions may apply.
