Jubilee Park and Community Center

The foundation for all of Jubilee Park and Community Center’s work is education.

The Children’s Education Initiative takes a holistic approach to educating children in the community with programs offered from birth through 12th grade. These programs offer a safe, loving and nurturing environment where children and young people are encouraged to improve academic performance, learn important life skills, express themselves creatively, develop their unique talents and increase knowledge through new experiences. Jubilee Park also provides adult education to expand personal and job skills, as well as learning opportunities for seniors.

Jubilee Park and Community Center is a catalyst for comprehensive community revitalization in Southeast Dallas, with emphasis on the education of children and adults.

PURPOSE? To improve lives and strengthen community.

WHERE? South Dallas, 907 Bank St. Dallas, Texas 75223.

WHO DO THEY SERVE? Largely Spanish-speaking population that includes school aged kids and a robust senior citizen group.

WHAT DO THEY DO?

►Out of School Time Programs, Senior Services, Volunteer Opportunities, Public Health & Public Safety, Affordable Housing Initiative
►Adult Education: GED classes, ESL classes, partnership with El Centro Community College
►Senior zumba, lunches, field trips and housing
►After-school programs are reading and math focused
►7-week summer camp for school aged kids
►Annually, 14 staff members and more than 800 volunteers provide services and education to over 1,100 individuals in Jubilee Park and the surrounding area.  Jubilee operates a multi-facility campus which includes the Walt Humann – T. Boone Pickens Community Center, a resource center, two Head Start schools, a senior housing complex and a three acre park.

►Neighborhood consists of working-poor families.
►46% of which are living below the federal poverty level.
