Donor Spotlight: Mickie and Jeff Bragalone (posted 02-12-2014)

Dallas Theater Center fans Mickie and Jeff Bragalone have been DTC subscribers for 20 years. They have recently deepened their involvement at DTC–significantly! Jeff is a member of the Board of Trustees, where he sits on the Executive Committee, serves on both the Marketing and Facilities Committees, and chairs the Diversity Task Force. Both Mickie and Jeff are deeply involved with the DTC Guild, and are members of The Benefactors. We sat down with them to ask about their passion for all-things DTC...

You've become integrally involved at DTC in a very short time, leading our diversity task force and serving as marketing team lead for Fortress. What excites you about those projects?

This season is so exciting because of DTC’s focus on tough issues such as diversity and recidivism.  When our theater sparks conversations that extend well beyond the performances and into the community, it’s rewarding to be a part of that at any level. The Fortress of Solitude tells a deeply moving story of a delicate childhood friendship, tested by adulthood; since Mickie and I are both Jonathan Lethem fans, we are thrilled that DTC is debuting a musical that does justice to his powerful novel.

You and Mickie are also involved with the DTC Guild. What do you enjoy about your Guild membership? How does it enhance your appreciation of DTC?

As season ticket holders for more than 20 years, we have always enjoyed the productions at DTC. Membership in the DTC Guild has enhanced that experience by introducing us to fellow theater lovers and giving us access to unique interactions with the cast of each show. Plus, we’ve made many new friends. It’s a wonderful organization, and we would encourage all theater lovers to join the DTC Guild and become involved.

What other interests do you have, and what else do you do in the community?

Mickie has served on the Dallas Children’s Theater board for many years, having first become active when our daughter was a toddler.  Now, fourteen years later, our “toddler” is about to appear onstage in her first DCT production!  Mickie also serves on the White Rock Lake Conservancy Board and the City of Dallas Ethics Commission.  When I’m not agonizing over my beloved Kansas Jayhawks basketball team, I am active in the Dallas Bar Association and often perform in the annual “Bar None” variety show (a fundraiser for minority diversity scholarships at SMU Law School).  Mickie and I also enjoy buying and selling fine art, and supporting various community organizations.

You just started a new law firm, whose offices look out on the arts district. What would you like our subscribers to know about your practice?

Opening Bragalone Conroy PC last year has been the highlight of my career.  Our firm specializes in complex business litigation, including patent litigation and licensing.  I’m privileged to practice with some brilliant attorneys, and our size has allowed us to structure flexible fee arrangements to meet the particular needs of our clients.  Best of all, our new offices on the 45th floor of Chase Tower afford us a great view of the Wyly Theatre!
