Donor Spotlight: Sapphire Foundation (posted 10-16-2013)

The Sapphire Foundation began as the Lyndhurst Foundation, which was established in 1938 in Chattanooga, TN by Coca-Cola Bottling Company pioneer Thomas Cartter Lupton. Upon his death in 1977, his son John took over the foundation, focusing on healthcare, education, and arts and culture. In the mid-'80s and '90s the foundation's focus expanded to include the revitalization of Chattanooga and surrounding areas.

In 2012, a major shift occurred when the foundation was split into five smaller family foundations, each run by one of Thomas Lupton’s grandchildren. One grandchild, Kate Crosland Juett, founded the Sapphire Foundation in Dallas.

Kate and her husband Dana, now the President and CEO of the Sapphire Foundation, have loved and supported Dallas Theater Center for over 20 years. Kate has served as Chair of the Board of Trustees, and in 2003 was named a Life Trustee.

To show our appreciation and celebrate the Juett’s deep relationship to the arts in Dallas, we have named Kate and Dana the Honorary Chairs of our annual gala, Centerstage 2014, to be held on May 31, 2014.

Thank you, Kate and Dana, for your unwavering commitment to the work of Dallas Theater Center!
