ASSISTANT STAGE OPERATIONS MANAGER  (posted 5-24-16)

The Assistant Stage Operations Manager  is responsible for being a part of the running crew for all assigned productions as well as assisting the Stage Operations Manager with overseeing all other departmental functions.  They will need to maintain the integrity of the set and backstage area by handling repairs and cleanliness.  They are responsible for assisting with the management, supervision, and hiring of added personnel for the deck crew.  When needed, the ASOM will perform as crew chief on productions entirely and/or temporarily.  They assist the Stage Operations Manager in preparation of the set and wings, rigging/fly checks, safety checks, and all machinery checks.  This position reports directly to the Stage Operations Manager.

ARTISTIC PRODUCING FELLOWSHIP  (posted 5-12-16)

This one-year fellowship is intended as a professional opportunity for emerging theater artists. The Artistic Producing Fellow will assist the Artistic Director in administrating the artistic department. The essential duties will include scheduling, facilitating communication, serving as a liaison between the artistic department and the staff, board and community, and managing the artistic budget. The goal of the fellowship is to cultivate emerging theater professionals through direct experience in producing theater. In addition to working closely with Dallas Theater Center’s Artistic Director, staff and artists, the Artistic Producing Fellow will receive personalized career development opportunities, including opportunities for external professional growth and expansion. We are looking for emerging theater artists who have been historically under-represented in the artistic community.  Emerging theater artists from all diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply for consideration.

DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION (posted 4-19-16)

The Director of Education is a senior level position that reports to the Managing Director and supervises two full-time staff members, interns, and a staff of part-time teaching artists. The Director of Education is responsible for the overall development, administration and supervision of all education programs including: 

  • Project Discovery  The recipient of the National Arts and Humanities Youth Award. PD introduces high school students from across North Texas to theater in a comprehensive program that cultivates them as patrons, artists and thinkers. 
  • Dallas Independent School District Learning Labs  Long term residencies that establish a strong framework for acting to propel students into college at both the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing Arts and South Oak Cliff High School.

DTC is currently seeking a Master Carpenter. Responsible for seeing that the technical design is carried out just as the TD had intended. This person will oversee the build and installation of each production. He/she is the link between the TD office and the carpenters. OVERHIRE THEATER TECHNICIANS

The Dallas Theater Center always has positions open for Theater Technicians. We regularly hire over hire carpenters, lighting techs, audio techs, costumers, show run crew, wardrobe crew and stage managers. Over-hire work is part-time and paid per hour (commensurate with experience). Join our professional team! Stage Management Observers

Dallas Theater Center seeks Stage Management Observers for our 2015-2016 season. SM Observers will assist the Stage Management staff and have the opportunity to observe and participate in DTC rehearsals and tech rehearsals. This is a volunteer position and it is best suited, but not limited, to those interested in pursuing Stage Management as a career. Appropriate applicants may seek professional internship credit with his/her current college or university (as appropriate). There are multiple openings for this position. Scheduling is part time, flexible and may be short or long term, but a commitment is required.
