Getting to Know Paula Paggi

What do you do as  the PR/Media Relations Manager at Dallas Theater Center?

I write press releases, maintain our relationships with the greater arts community, coordinate interviews with the media, create Q&As like this for all the artists here (lol!), and raise awareness of Dallas Theater Center and all the work we do.

What is your favorite aspect of the work you do?

I love my co-workers! Sharing a (digital) workspace with them is amazing.

How did you find your way to theater?

My parents are big supporters of the arts. I’ve been going to plays my whole life. I studied theater in college – mainly focusing on reading scripts and theater history.

What is your favorite Dallas Theater Center production and why?

Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure! I bought the tickets for my dad for his birthday. I wasn’t expecting to enjoy it, as I’m not a big fan of other Sherlock properties, but I loved it. I kept the playbill and put it in a shadow box along with my comic con passes (which is a place of honor in my house).

What actor would play you in the movie version of your life?

Regina King. Our ages and races don’t match, but she’s my favorite actress and she’d do a fabulous job.

If you won the lottery, what are the first five things you would do?

Buy a house, buy a car, start college funds, buy a ridiculously large cat house/toy/climbing apparatus, hire someone to make a better sequel to the video game Batman: Arkham City.

You may be first feline PR/Media Relations Manager we’ve met – that must be so much fun, and exciting for your interviewees!

Awe – my sweet Mortimer. I adopted him in 2005 and he’s provided endless inspiration, entertainment, and love. Mortimer is number 1. All other cats are number 2 or lower.

Have you discovered a new hobby, TV show, book, movie, game, or other entertainment while spending this extra time at home?

What We Do in the Shadows (series). I’ve never seen the movie, but I LOVE the series.

What do you miss the most from the time before sheltering in place?

I miss hugging people.

If you could produce any play or musical, which would you choose?

Cyrano de Bergerac. It’s my favorite play to read, but I’ve never seen it performed.
