Dallas Theater Center’s 2014-2015 season includes an expansion of the robust and open-to-the-public educational programming currently offered. DTC has added a teen acting class called Gory Greeks (available for High School and Middle School students) and all levels for a brand new SPRING BREAK CAMP. Open to Adults are the Adult Acting class, the Adult Broadway Butt Busters movement class and the DTC Book Club will return in 2015 for a second year after great success last season.

ALL CLASSES AND CLUBS WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE DEE AND CHARLES WYLY THEATRE, 2400 FLORA ST., UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED.

The Donor / Subscriber Day pre-sale for Adult Broadway Butt Busters, Gory Greeks, Adult Acting, DTC Book Club, and Spring Break Camp is Monday, December 1, at 10:00am.

The Public sale begins Wednesday, December 2 at 10:00am.

Musical Theater Intensive

Break in with Joel Ferrell as your guide through a fast paced, on-your-feet, professional Musical Theater Intensive. This week, designed for emerging musical theater professionals, will focus on the key skills and pacing of the modern Musical Theater production. Through direction, choreography and vocal coaching, participants will gain new ground in this fast-paced field. Limited to 30 participants, ages 17 and above.

Dates: Monday-Saturday, December 1-6
Time: 6:00-8:00pm
Cost: $225

Adult Broadway Butt Busters!  

Bored with your current fitness routine? Don’t want to spend one more hour on the elliptical? Well quit your gym and come on down to the theater for our brand new Broadway Butt Buster class, let by DTC Associate Artistic Director and Musical Theater Wizard Joel Ferrell! Filled with exciting Broadway choreography, this class will spice up your cardio with some good old song and dance! This playful and energetic workout can be purchased as a class or with drop-in payment.

Dates: Mondays, January 5–March 2
Time: 5:30–6:30 pm
Cost: Donor / Subscriber Day, $120; Public Registration, $150


DTC Book Club

Like to read? Enjoy thinking about big ideas? Want to explore great literature with a fun group of brainy people? Then join the club! Participants in the DTC Book Club will read and discuss literary masterpieces that serve as inspirations for plays in DTC’s season. Each Book Club meeting will focus on one of the books and its stimulating ideas. Registration price includes books and wine!

Kick-off Date: Tuesday, January 6
Time: 6:00pm

Gory Greeks for High School Students

In this 7-week class taught by a member of our education team along with guest artists, high school students will explore Euripides’ famous tragedy, Medea. After analyzing the text, students will be assigned pieces to perform and be coached on. The class will also include sections on how to create and stage the bloody special effects in this tale of love, revenge, and murder! 

Dates: Saturdays, January 17-February 28
Time: 10:00am-12:00pm
Cost: Donor / Subscriber Day, $250; Public Registration, $275


Gory Greeks for Middle School Students

Adult Acting

This beginning acting class, taught by a member of DTC's Brierley Resident Acting Company, is an introduction for newcomers to the art form. The class will provide participants with a framework for creating specific, believable characters. Through improvisation and scene work, participants will explore playing actions in support of a character's objective. No prior acting experience necessary.

Dates: Mondays, February 16 - March 23
Time: 6:30-8:00pm
Cost: Donor / Subscriber Day, $175; Public Registration, $200


Spring Break Camp

Take a Break with us!! Can’t wait for Summerstage to start? Itching to get your acting on? Join us for an intense, jam-packed week of training culminating in a showing for family and friends on DTC’s main stage!
