Dallas Theater Center’s Bounce Back Fund has been established to help mitigate losses in ticket revenue and contributed income from postponed productions and to continue to pay staff during the pandemic. Contributions to this emergency fund will directly impact the theater’s ability to return to the stage as quickly as possible once the City of Dallas reopens.
“Coming out of this crisis, our community will need opportunities to come together to heal, engage, and reconnect,” said Enloe/Rose Artistic Director, Kevin Moriarty. “Now, more than ever, the intrinsic value of sharing life experiences is clear. Dallas Theater Center is uniquely suited to serve as a magnet for our community, bringing people from all across our city together.”
While theaters across the country are laying off staff, Dallas Theater Center is continuing to keep its artistic, production, and administrative staff paid through the COVID-19 pandemic. Though sheltering in place offsite, the theater is still creating and sharing the arts virtually with the community. Dallas Theater Center is currently in the final weeks of its “virtual run” of American Mariachi. More than 4000 links to the production have been distributed to the community. Following the conclusion of the production, Dallas Theater Center will announce its 2020-2021 season, which will include The Sound of Music, Tiny Beautiful Things, and Native Gardens, among others.
“Dallas Theater Center, which contributes so much to the life of our community by inspiring new ways of thinking and living, must now contribute to the community by doing its part to keep us all safe,” said Board Chair Jennifer Altabef. “As we have learned from difficult times in the past, bringing people together through art is an important part of healing and of asserting our determination to continue to be positive forces regardless of circumstances. Contributions made now will prepare the organization to return as quickly as possible to fulfilling our mission and serving our community.”
