LIFT IS BENDING THE TREND.

1 in 5 adults in North Texas cannot read. This means that more than 800,000 adults in Dallas County alone are struggling with literacy and that number is projected to grow to more than 1 million by 2030.

We are reaching into the neighborhoods where people live, work and worship. By teaching adults to read, we increase access to employment, reduce reliance on social services and improve the quality of life for our students and their families.

LIFT (Literacy Instruction for Texas) enhances lives and strengthens communities by teaching adults to read.

PURPOSE? By teaching adults to read, we increase access to employment, reduce reliance on social services and improve the quality of life for our students and their families.

WHERE? Southeast Dallas – CitySquare. 1610 S. Malcolm X Blvd Suite 320 Dallas, Texas 75226. However, they have classes all over the metroplex including Frisco, Plano, Garland, Irving, Mansfield, and Richardson.

WHAT DO THEY DO? Adult Basic Literacy, Spanish classes, GED classes, ESL, Family Literacy, LIFT Your Employee

WHO DO THEY SERVE? Mainly immigrants, adult student population.

FACTS/STATS:
► By 2030, an estimated 1 million people in Dallas County will be illiterate.
►40% of Dallas county residents speak a language other than English.
