“Project Discovery is an excellent method of teaching the arts in various different ways, allowing students to view professional actors on stage performing the pages of books read in the classroom… Project Discovery has helped many of my students understand life and some of the situations we find ourselves in—life explanation through a play… Project Discovery helped with many of my students’ career choices and decisions made. I highly promote Project Discovery and hope it is around for a long time.” –from remarks by Michelle Coleman, Theater Teacher, Dallas ISD (retired)
|After remarks, DTC Director of Education and Community Enrichment Rachel Hull and DTC Manager of Education Programs Mara Richards invited the entire audience to participate in an on-your-feet workshop. A diverse and eclectic group of donors, students, teachers and staff took to the stage in the Potter Rose Performance Hall to create short pieces of work in small groups. To close the evening, guests mingled in the Wyly Theatre lobby with cookies and hot cocoa.
“In the beginning of the speech I was all kinds of nervous but I remembered the confidence that Project Discovery has helped me build and recovered quickly. It was a truly wonderful night, ending with a fun workshop and cookies!” said current PD student Emily Sanchez.
