We are glad to Chase have on board as a 2013-2014 sponsor. This is your first production sponsorship since the new musical Giant in 2012. What does the company value about its partnership with DTC?
In 2012, Chase was proud to sponsor the new musical Giant. We knew that this classic, multi-generational tale of Texas would speak to our local community, but it also brought DTC to national audiences. The production transferred to the Public Theater in New York, where it had a critically acclaimed run. The success of this production brought much-deserved recognition to the Dallas arts community. We were proud to help share the exceptional work of DTC and celebrate the talents we have here in Texas.
Other than supporting acclaimed productions like Giant and A Raisin in the Sun, how is Chase involved with the DTC?
The Project Discovery program at DTC has been a special initiative for Chase because of its focus on underserved teens across North Texas. Through our support of this program, thousands of low-income students have had in-depth theater experiences at DTC. Our support in particular has helped students from Dallas ISD to enhance their communication skills, build empathy and foster critical thinking. Many of these students have never had the chance to see a live performance before attending DTC for the first time.
Chase is a neighbor of DTC, with its headquarters just a couple of blocks away. Do you have any observations regarding the growth of the Dallas Arts District over the past couple of years?
The dynamic growth of the Dallas Arts District brings a thrilling vitality to our downtown. It has been exciting to experience and to participate in as a dedicated corporate partner. In addition to our support of DTC, Chase had provided leadership contributions to Klyde Warren Park, the Perot Museum, the Dallas Symphony and the Dallas Museum of Art. Strengthening these vibrant institutions strengthens our city. Chase is proud to support outstanding arts organizations like Dallas Theater Center, a vital part of the city’s cultural mosaic that makes Dallas a better place to live and work.
Shows & events
Dallas Theater Center will engage, entertain, and inspire our diverse community by creating experiences that stimulate new ways of thinking and living. We will do this by consistently producing plays, educational programs, and other initiatives that are of the highest quality and reach the broadest possible constituency.
ALL ARE WELCOME! At Dallas Theater Center, we want to be the best place to work and see theater, and to be a positive and transformational force in Dallas and beyond. We stand-up for equity, diversity, and inclusion across our company and community. As a leading national theater, we recognize that building an equitable, diverse, and inclusive environment is central to our relevance and sustainability in the community we serve and love.
We acknowledge the land beneath our feet as the ancestral home of many Indigenous Peoples including the Caddo, Wichita, Tawakoni, and Kiikaapoi, as well as the tribes that may have lived here and roamed the area – including Comanche, Kiowa and Apache – and those indigenous people whose names we don’t know anymore. We honor, revere and respect those who were stewards of this land long before we made it our home.
We also acknowledge the neighborhood we inhabit as one of the original Freedman’s towns of Dallas built by those who were enslaved by European colonization.
