Centerstage 2014: A Really Fun Party!

On Saturday, May 31, the Wyly Theatre was transformed for the evening for Centerstage 2014!  The annual gala, which raises funds for DTC’s artistic and educational programming, was chaired by Ann Hobson, with Underwriting Chair Pilar Henry and Honorary Chairs Kate and Dana Juett.

The evening began with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in the Wyly Theatre lobby.  Guests then ascended the grand staircase through a lantern lit entryway and into the Potter Rose Performance Hall.  The typical theater seats were removed and a round stage placed in the center of the room, with dinner tables surrounding.  Centerpieces consisted of gorgeous purple, orange, and pink carnations, provided by Fleurt Floral Design, surrounding jeweled lanterns, generously donated by Pier 1 Imports. Guests enjoyed three courses of culinary art from Cassandra Fine Catering.  After dessert, Associate Artistic Director Joel Ferrell auctioned off two items:  A cameo in this fall’s Rocky Horror Show (won by Kim Sheffield) and a walk-on role in A Christmas Carol (won by Rebecca Fletcher).  After the auction, Joel introduced special entertainment, Broadway veteran Adam Pascal, who delighted guests with musical theater numbers on his acoustic guitar.  Then, as the famous Wyly Theatre shades lifted to reveal the energy and buzz of downtown Dallas, guests danced into the night with live music from Cuvée.

“Centerstage provides critical funding so that DTC can fulfill its mission of both high quality theater and significant community outreach,” said Chair Ann Hobson.  “But the gala is also a really fun party!  This year we utilized the innovative and imaginative production talent at DTC to create a very visually exciting evening.”
