Children will experience the wonder and excitement of theater as they dive into great children’s literature. The adventure begins with games designed to encourage exploration, develop concentration skills and improve self-esteem. Children express themselves through performance, music, movement, visual art and acting out stories, familiar and new. Come dress up, create characters and join in the fun!

Students have a blast working as an ensemble to put on a show! Musical Theater places emphasis on healthy singing and telling a story through song, while acting introduces kids to creating a character and taking the stage. With the guidance of professional artists and educators, students develop and cultivate theater skills that will serve them well in life.

Come for Musical Theater in the morning, come for Acting in afternoon OR come for both and stay all day!

The Teen Actor Training Program (ATP) provides advanced training for students desiring an intensive theater experience, under the guidance of professional actors and directors. During the three-week ATP program, students are immersed in a variety of classes, in addition to their core acting curriculum, which may include: Voice, Movement, Improv, Audition, Directing, Musical Theater, Design, Playwriting, or Shakespeare.

In addition, ATP students will be given unparalleled access to the artistic process in a professional theater, as they interact with mainstage artists and get an “insider’s look” at the making of DTC’s groundbreaking summer production Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor® Dreamcoat.

Please note that daily attendance for ATP is mandatory.

An interview/audition is required to assess placement within the program.
No student will be denied admission. Applicants will be contacted to set up an appointment.

• SummerStage 2012 will take place at the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre (2400 Flora St @ Leonard St.) in the AT&T Performing Arts Center. For a map, please click here and view under "Where do I park at the Wyly Theatre.")
   
• All students enrolled in SummerStage 2012 will receive a free ticket to Dallas Theater Center’s production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor® Dreamcoat.
   
• All students enrolled in SummerStage 2012 become part of Dallas Theater Center’s actor talent pool.
   
• Students enrolled in a full day of classes may bring their lunch and enjoy the company of other students and faculty. This supervised lunch is available to half-day students at an additional fee of $5 per day.
   
• A $65 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve a place in SummerStage 2012. Full tuition is due no later than a week before the selected session begins. Tuition is refunded only in the event of a program cancellation. There is a $20 fee for returned checks.
   
• Financial assistance, including payment plans and scholarships, is available.
