WIG CREW OVERHIRE  (posted 7-15-16)

Seeking Wig Run Crew Overhires for the 2016-2017 Season. Position is hourly, earning overtime at a rate of 1.5x/hour after 40 hours in a week. No travel or housing compensation is available for position. 

Employee’s responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Attend all technical rehearsals
  • Assist Designer and Wig & Makeup Supervisor as needed during build and tech process.
  • Wig Maintenance including:
  • Daily wig/hair styling
  • Daily lace cleaning
  • Blocking wigs
  • Run a track that will include very quick changes
  • Assist in costume changes and wardrobe duties as necessary
  • Able to run shows on an 8 show performance week
  • Other duties as assigned

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong wig styling skills in both human and synthetic wigs
  • Basic Ventilation and Wig Repair
  • Basic understanding of Theater/Tech practices

WARDROBE CREW  (posted 7-15-16)

Reporting to thw Wardrobe Supervisor, responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to: assisting the Wardrobe Supervisor in the running of all performances; maintaining all garments, shoes, wigs, etc. in show-ready condition at all times; maintaining the dressing rooms, wardrobe and backstage areas in a clean, usable, and safe condition; other duties as assigned.

Previous experience on a professional wardrobe crew required.

MANAGER OF FOUNDATION AND GOVERNMENT RELATIONS  (posted 7-7-16)

The Manager of Foundation and Government Relations position reports directly to the Director of Development and is responsible for all aspects of giving from local, state and national foundations, organizations, and government sources. Duties include researching prospective funders, working with program staff and finance staff to develop grant proposals, gathering evaluative data on programs and projects that receive funding, and reporting to funders. This position also serves as the primary liaison between the theater and government agencies and entities (such as Dallas City Council and Texas Commission on the Arts), attending meetings and disseminating related information to staff and trustees.

COSTUME STITCHER  (posted 6-29-16)

The Costume Stitcher reports to the Costume Shop Manager and is responsible for the construction of new costumes and the alteration and refurbishment of existing costumes, under the direction of the draper/tailor and first hand for a multi production season. The stitcher must be prepared to fulfill the following responsibilities throughout the season: construction, alteration, and finishing work using both hand and machine stitching; pressing and rolling of fabrics; pressing, steaming and correct labeling of finished costumes.

TECHNICAL DIRECTOR  (posted 6-21-16)

The Technical Director is responsible for realization and installation of all scenic elements as designed by the Scenic Designer and approved by the Production Manager, manage the scenic department personnel, as well as supervise and assist with all rigging/carpentry needs of a the production department as needed. The Master Carpenter (MC) is responsible for seeing that the technical design is carried out to the Technical Directors specifications.  This person will oversee the build and installation of each production.  He/she is the link between the TD office and the carpenters.  The MC should be informed on how all scenic elements are built and how they relate to each other.

OVERHIRE THEATER TECHNICIANS

The Dallas Theater Center always has positions open for Theater Technicians. We regularly hire over hire carpenters, lighting techs, audio techs, costumers, show run crew, wardrobe crew and stage managers. Over-hire work is part-time and paid per hour (commensurate with experience). Join our professional team! Stage Management Observers

Dallas Theater Center seeks Stage Management Observers for our 2015-2016 season. SM Observers will assist the Stage Management staff and have the opportunity to observe and participate in DTC rehearsals and tech rehearsals. This is a volunteer position and it is best suited, but not limited, to those interested in pursuing Stage Management as a career. Appropriate applicants may seek professional internship credit with his/her current college or university (as appropriate). There are multiple openings for this position. Scheduling is part time, flexible and may be short or long term, but a commitment is required.
