Creating New Experiences for Future Generations

Dallas Theater Center will engage, entertain, and inspire our diverse community by creating experiences that stimulate new ways of thinking and living. We will do this by consistently producing plays, educational programs, and other initiatives that are of the highest quality and reach the broadest possible constituency.

Since 1960, the nationally recognized Education Programs at DTC have served to engage the audience more fully and completely with the art, connecting the work we do with the world in which we live.

THE TED AND SHANNON SKOKOS LEARNING LAB

This season begins the third year of a formal partnership between Dallas Theater Center and Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (BTW). This academic year, 19 theatre cluster seniors – who auditioned last spring for the class --  are participating in an Advanced Acting Learning LAB, co-taught by Artistic Director Kevin Moriarty, Lisa Holland and BTW Theatre Faculty Charlton Gavitt.  In addition to regular weekly classroom learning, students are required to complete 20 hours of an artistic observership and will perform in a production during the spring semester.  They are given full access to the rehearsal hall, the performance chamber as well as to the multitude of local and national artists with which DTC works.    Four additional students were chosen as production interns, each fulfilling 60 hours of supervised work in their respective fields of interest (directing, stage operations, stage management and costume construction.)
